The Inspiration:

The Design:
An oval brilliant cut diamond lies on its side, held by four slim white gold claw prongs that grip the stone at top and bottom and leave its long edges open. The brilliant faceting scatters sharp white and rainbow flashes right across the wide face of the stone. The two upper prongs feed directly into a fine white gold cable chain, so the oval sits flat and centred with no bail. Nothing wraps the stone but four thin claws — an open, airy setting that lets light in from every side.
